The 2025 Super Formula Lights championship’s Sugo event, which began on Thursday with practice sessions, reached its final day on Sunday.

According to the finishing order of Rd 10 the race winner and the championship leader Yuto Nomura in HFDP WITH B-MAX RACING and the runner-up both in the race and the standings Yuki Sano (Mobility Chukyo TOM’S TGR-DC SFL) claimed front row for the second race in a row.

Starting from the second row were Rikuto Kobayashi (Mobility Chukyo TOM’S TGR-DC SFL) and Zach David (B-MAX RACING 324). Esteban Masson (PONOS Racing TOM’S TGR-DC SFL) and Kaylen Frederick (Pilot ONE Racing with B-MAX) sat at the third row.

■An accident occurs at the start

It was cloudy early in the morning, with temperatures dropping to 26C. Despite drizzle in the lead up to lights out all the cars came out on slicks as the track was not wet. Kobayashi and Frederick opted for fresh rubber.

As the race got underway at 11:20am Nomura took the holeshot.

Masson challenged Kobayashi into Turn one and two, only to be rebuffed.

A little further back, Yusuke Mitsui (DELiGHTWORKS) in seventh spun at the exit of Turn two to slightly go off the track, and Kazuhisa Urabe (B-MAX RACING 324) was unable to avoid the car ahead, making contact, which dropped Mitsui down the order and forced Urabe to come into the pits at the end of lap two.

Nomura, meanwhile, picked up the fastest lap of 1m13.789 on lap three, and then proceeded to multiply his lead over Sano, which extended to 2.477secs at the end of lap five.

■Imada takes three consecutive master-class wins

However, Nomura’s early lead would be whittled as Sano posted his personal best lap of 1m13.854 on lap 10 and got the gap to the race leader down to 1.556secs on lap 11.

Although Sano closed to within 0.861secs of Nomura on lap 15, Nomura held on to win, stretching his winning streak to six.

Sano placed second for the third race in a row. Kobayashi was a distant third. Frederick rounded out the points as he finished sixth behind Masson and David.

In master class, pole sitter Nobuhiro Imada (JMS RACING with B-MAX) comfortably pulled away to build up a 4.802secs lead on lap five before taking three consecutive wins with a sizeable 19.095secs advantage.
